Laboratory Technician Coatings

The main role of the formulation technician is to prepare developmental and commercial sample formulations, run application testing and physicochemical characterization on these formulations. Additionally, the formulation technician will assist in technical service-related lab work for the existing portfolio of coating products.

Typical duties are:
• Comply with all corporate, division, and group safety requirements and demonstrate commitment to continual safety improvement and model good safety behaviors.
• Accurately execute laboratory experiments and measurements for research projects in a fast-paced, results-oriented team environment.
• Optimize and test customer formulations based on technical service questions.
• Observe experiments and analyze results, and based on the outcome, combine with own ideas and suggestions.
• Document and report laboratory results. 
• Recommend equipment improvements/upgrades for laboratory and take ownership of high-end lab equipment for daily use, installation, calibration, maintenance and safety requirements. 
• Keep up to date with changes in coating formulations and testing by following technical literature and information in your field.


• Bachelor or Master degree in sciences with strong drive for results and a hands-on mentality.
• Experience in coating formulations is a plus
• Positive attitude and capable of dealing with change
• Creativity to think out of the box; willing to challenge the status quo
• Open to work in international and multi-functional project teams
• Clear and effective written and oral communication in English. Knowledge of Dutch, or willingness to learn is a plus
• Strong project management skills, meeting deadlines, taking ownership of goals and results
