Job Description

Serves on the Site Leadership Team as a business partner.  Contributes to setting functional or business strategy in area of expertise. Consulted for input as functional or business strategy is being developed. Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommends process, product or service improvements. Solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business. Operates with minimal supervision in a complex environment. Establishes and maintains labor management relations. Represents the organization in contract negotiations with the labor union. Administers the collective bargaining agreement and grievances.

Leads a HR team consisting of a Training Coordinator and an HR Specialist (nonexempt) providing support for the manufacturing site located in Jefferson Hills.

Responsibilities

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for all or part of these areas:

  • recruiting and staffing logistics; university relations
  • performance management
  • organization development
  • talent and succession planning processes
  • employment and compliance to regulatory concerns and reporting
  • employee orientation, training and development; on-boarding
  • employee relations
  • conducts disciplinary proceedings and investigations
  • site-wide committee facilitation
  • employee communications
  • benefit inquiries
  • serves on the board for the Eastman Professional Development Club
  • supports and inspires health and wellness initiatives
  • actively participates in community partnerships (YMCA, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce);
  • employee services and counseling
  • provides travel to and support for multiple facilities.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong business acumen and people acumen, and ability to consult, coach and influence business leaders at a managerial level around complex HR decisions.
  • Excellent cross-group collaboration, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong systems-thinking ability. Demonstrable experience in analyzing business issues and providing scalable HR solutions that address & align to broader business requirements.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, and achieve results in a fast-paced, heavily-distributed team environment.
  • Ability to manipulate and analyze HR data and drive solutions or recommendations based on data insights.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HR laws such as EEOC guidelines, FLSA and ADA in US or equivalent labor laws in international locations.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to prioritize based on the highest value add to business
  • Can lead small projects or HR processes in Client area
  • Proficient in HR Systems and Microsoft Office Products, such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Experience in another HR function, such as Organization Design, Expatriate Administration, Talent Management, Compensation or Benefits a plus.

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration or related field required (Master's preferred)
  • Generalist experience within a manufacturing facility preferred
  • Labor relations experience in resolving contractual disputes, grievance and arbitration issues is strongly preferred
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to translate HR knowledge into valuable recommendations and solutions
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
