Job Description


The Global Adhesives Process Support group in Eastman’s Technology Orgization interfaces with Adhesives Manufacturing at Jefferson, PA and Middleburg, The Netherlands sites to carry out  chemical process improvement projects for existing manufacturing processes. The group is also responsible for identifying, scaling-up, and commercializing breakthrough new process technologies and new products.
A Chemical Engineer in the Global Adhesives Process Support Group will be located in Jefferson, PA (approximately 15 miles south of Pittsburgh). They will provide technical assistance and project work related to process development and improvement efforts, and assist in the discovery and development of new process concepts for the production of resins. Project work will be conducted in the laboratory, pilot plant, and in the large-scale manufacturing facilities.



•    Work in a results-oriented team environment to develop new technologies and improve existing technologies to meet manufacturing and business needs
•    Lead multidisciplined teams to execute technical projects and production trials at a manufacturing scale
•    Assist with day-to-day operations and process troubleshooting
•    Analyze results, solve complex problems, and document conclusions 
•    Work effectively within the Technology global organization, including laboratory technicians, process experts, chemistry experts, and applications scientists
•    Work effectively with all levels and individual disciplines of the broader site organization, including Manufacturing, Safety, Environmental, Maintenance, and Business
•    Exhibit a high level of initiative


A Process Improvement Engineer is expected to be a self-starter, work independently, and have good personal organization skills to be successful. Flexibility and adaptability are critical in this industry environment. Candidates should have a positive social attitude and like to work on a team.



  • Candidates must have B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university
  • A co-op or other industry experience is preferred
  • Clear and effective written and oral communication is essential
  • Ability to interface closely with production engineers and operators to lead or facilitate production trials and execute projects
  • Experience with any of the following systems is an advantage
    • Statistical analysis software
    • PI Process Book / PI Vision
    • Distributed Control Systems
