This position is located at Eastman's South Carolina (SCO) joint venture manufacturing site. This is a full-time, salaried position. Typical work schedule will be days, Monday – Friday. The role requires coordination and collaboration with site owner and operator, ALPEK. We require an experienced, results-oriented engineer to partner with Operations and Maintenance to assist in equipment troubleshooting, provide technical support and drive toward safe, reliable production. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role. 



Examples of core responsibilities include:


  • Make safety the top priority every day. This includes participating in safety audits, PSV management and supporting safety projects
  • Maintain asset integrity strategies for equipment and safety devices in area
  • Assist Area Manager with day-to-day tactical management of SCO maintenance, working closely with Eastman and ALPEK management as needed
  • Assist with incident investigations tied to equipment reliability or failures
  • Serve as a key figure in Production and Maintenance scheduling meetings
  • Serve as technical resource for Maintenance and Operations
  • Interface with Supply Chain and ALPEK Operations for short and long-term maintenance coordination
  • Drive turnaround work processes and scheduling
  • Identify maintenance and reliability projects to improve efficiency and drive to completion
  • Serve as Project Division representative on Maintenance and Reliability Capital Projects
  • Assist in startup and recommissioning plans for equipment
  • Provide technical and troubleshooting support for Operations and Maintenance
  • Serve as Eastman Capital Coordinator for site and maintain list of prioritized projects and needs
  • Provide or facilitate approval of proposed changes (MOC) to operating equipment, procedures and processes




  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution is required
  • 2+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Must be comfortable in a manufacturing environment with large, continuous chemical processing equipment
  • Must exhibit ownership and a bias for action to assigned area of responsibility
  • Must be a self-starter, with ability to lead and drive projects forward using engineering practices and judgement
  • Must have desire to be hands-on in a manufacturing plant environment
