This posting is for a Lab Technician in Corporate Innovation for Eastman Chemical Company located in Vancouver, Canada. The selected individual for this position will:
 

  • Contribute to the development and optimization of Eastman's dynamic glazing technology.
  • Support formultion development through execution of experiment plans.
  • Characterize dynamic glazing and dynamic mirror test samples and make evaluations against key performance metrics.
  • Build prototype test devices, fabricate customer samples, prep raw materials, operate automated fabrication equipment and implement quality assurance procedures.
  • Maintain and organize device testing, wet chemistry and engieering laboratories.
  • Liaise with suppliers, place orders and maintain inventories of laboratory supplies, chemicals, solvents and general office supplies.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team (technology, manufacturing, business, marketing) to innovate and develop new commercial opportunities for Eastman.
  • Communicating results through effective written documentation and oral presentations.
     

Qualifications

Required Degree:   Bachelor degree in Chemistry, Diploma of Technology in mechanical, chemical, or optical technologies or an equivalent combination of experience and education. 

  • 3+ years experience preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and ability to perform precise hands-on work.
  • Willingness and ability to perform repetitive tasks with a high degree of precision.
  • Broad interests and willingness to take on undefined challenges.
