The following is a brief description of the Rail Fleet Coordinator’s duties and responsibilities:  It does not entail all of the duties and responsibilities.

The Rail Fleet Coordinator is responsible and accountable for aspects of rail movements in and out of Eastman TCO. This service is provided to internal and external customers to ensure safe and reliable shipments of finished product and raw materials by rail. Shipments by rail must comply with all Department of Transportation and Federal Railroad Administration’s regulations.  

Job Task:

  • Data entry using Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word
  • Creating, reviewing, and retaining documents per ISO 900, cGMP, and DOT regulations
  • Create Bill of Ladings in Rail Connect 
  • Manage the rail fleet database 
  • Create loading/unloading documentation for rail
  • Coordinate with Union Tank Car (On site tank car mini shop) on any tank car repairs needed, status of repairs and wash cycles.  Monitor the tank car repair history.
  • Review and approve railcar repair invoices
  • Environmental record keeping
  • Manage railcar demurrage and excess storage   
  • Coordinate with Texas City Terminal Railway on a daily basis on rail car availability, inbound and outbound switch
  • Coordinate with customer service and logistics on upcoming tank car orders
  • Monitor west gate rail camera
  • Serve as backup to Customer Service and Scalehouse 
    • Create tank car Bill of Ladings in Intellitrans Global Visibility Platform and SAP.
    • Coordinate with manufacturing on incoming raw materials by rail to meet current and projected manufacturing rates
    • Work with trucking companies to schedule truck loads and unloads


  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a minimum of a High school diploma or GED
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)
  • Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner when speaking with drivers, customers, and other support staff
  • Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills
  • Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices
  • Able to work overtime as needed
  • Identifies and responds to customer needs and knows how to organize activities to produce an effective workflow.


  • SAP experience is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Transportation Management, Logistics, Business Administration or related field
  • Two (2) years or more direct Transportation, Logistics or rail work experience preferred
