This is a technical staff position at the Eastman Chemical Texas City manufacturing site.  The work involves interacting with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Environmental and Safety personnel to monitor and analyze Utilities and Environmental operating data to identify problem areas and areas for improvement.  Primary areas include boiler operation, steam system, boiler feedwater, condensate, fuels, compressed air and nitrogen. This position reports to the Manufacturing Manager for the Texas City site. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Promote institutionalization of Eastman Operational Excellence in Manufacturing at TCO
    • Continuous improvement
    • Safe, reliable operations
    • Knowledge capture and transfer
  • Manage technical program for area of responsibility
    • Define and implement plans for needed changes and improvement projects in the areas of safety, quality, reliability and cost
    • Define and forecast required capital
    • Identify process bottlenecks and develop projects to provide incremental capacity increases
  • Support day-to-day operations
    • Manage the steam balance daily through review of data and communication with internal and external stakeholders
    • Troubleshoot problems
    • Provide technical support to and transfer of operational knowledge to Team Managers and Operators
    • Actively participate in safety programs, e.g., audits, PHAs, PSSRs, MOC, JSAs, etc.



  • Minimum required education -- B.S. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from accredited college/university
  • Work experience – Ten or more years of related manufacturing experience preferred
  • Must be able to wear proper PPE and access all areas of the plant, with or without accommodation
  • Willingness to relocate to the Texas City/Houston area
