Maintenance Engineer
Responsibilities
Provide mechanical maintenance support (installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance) to ensure safe, reliable, and continuous production operations.
Key Accountabilities
- Perform installation, commissioning, and trial runs of new equipment, ensuring compliance with specifications and safety requirements.
- Plan and carry out routine and preventive maintenance for production and auxiliary equipment to maximize uptime and reliability.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults; implement corrective actions to restore equipment to safe operating condition.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns as part of an on-call Rota (as required) and coordinate repair activities to minimize production impact.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and reduce downtime (e.g., root cause analysis, failure mode improvement).
- Identify and recommend energy-saving opportunities and contribute to controlling maintenance costs.
- Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs, maintenance services, and spare parts procurement; ensure work is performed safely and to required standards.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, and spare parts inventories.
- Ensure maintenance activities and work areas comply with Environmental, Safety and Health (ESH) requirements; maintain good housekeeping in maintenance work and storage areas.
- Follow quality procedures and contribute to raising quality awareness in maintenance work.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance, with strong troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting 2D and 3D engineering drawings; familiar with machinery and tooling design and fabrication processes.
- Practical knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and basic electrical control systems.
- Strong sense of responsibility, good teamwork skills, and the ability to work independently.
- Conversational English (reading, writing, and speaking) sufficient for technical documentation and communication with vendors/contractors.
