Crown Operations International, LLC, a subsidiary of Eastman Chemical Company, located in Sun Prairie, WI, has an immediate need for a QC Technician. The selected candidate will be responsible for determing, recording, and reporting the quality of specified Raw Materials, in process and finished product to support all Eastman Sun Prairie Operations manufacturing facilities. 

 

Responsibilities

  • QC testing on all lots of finished laminated products (interfacial adhesion, shrink, moisture content, surface roughness and coating transfer as needed)
  • Test result reporting (LIMS data entry and backup LIMS approver for ALS products)
  • Communicate OOS test results to Quality Manager and other appropriate personnel, retest and assist Quality Manager in investigations as needed
  • Maintenance of testing related records including: product retains, original test results, and run data and documentation
  • Surface tension testing on treated film and retention of related records
  • Temperature chart recorder changing, monitoring, data entry and record keeping
  • Primary contact for “as is” shipments, cutting only orders (no laminating needed), some direct sale customers, and special projects. Backup shipping contact for XIR finished goods.
  • Daily data entry for testing and shipping
  • SOP and other procedure writing, review and record retention
  • Chiller maintenance (dosing, water testing, PM log entries)
  • Calibrating lab equipment as needed, assist Quality Manager in ensuring all equipment is calibrated on schedule.
  • MSDS and other safety document maintenance, review and retention
  • Hazardous chemical labeling and maintaining site chemical inventories
  • Coordinate with EMN and Trenton EHS personnel for developing site specific policies and procedures. Generate and documentation required for regulatory compliance and participate in EHS and other safety audits.
  • Generate POs and Outline Agreements (SAP) and coordinate with Vendors, Requisitioners and EMN Accounts Payable personnel as needed.
  • Maintain documents related to purchasing and run regular reports to ensure prompt receipt of goods and payment to vendors
  • QC testing for ISO compliance with internal and customer requirements

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical science or related field preferred.
  • Hands on experience with analytical equipment highly desirable.
  • Solid analytical skills are essential.
  • Computer skills (proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of Laboratory Safety Practices. 
  • Experience in the manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of both Statistical Process Control and ISO principles is beneficial.
  • Ability to effectively carry-out instructions, procedures and test methods. 
  • Modify/develop test methods to optimize operations and procedures; and train others.
  • Application and use of specifications, charts, tables, statistical techniques, and databases as they apply to laboratory testing requirements.
  • Ability to use Electronic Data Systems (including new programs) to perform tasks such as, but not limited to lab information management systems, notifications, and purchase requisitions.  
  • Ability to effectively work with minimal or no supervision.
  • Ability to make effective decisions to plan and perform work regarding the sequence of set-up, operations and testing to achieve accurate & precise results.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify and solve problems using mathematics and scientific rules.
