Responsibilities

 

In this role, you’ll optimize process operations, productivity improvements and EH&S excellence in the operations area. You will provide daily engineering support to troubleshoot operational issues or problems.  The Production Engineer evaluates daily production results and makes corrections and improves performance of existing manufacturing units and assists with quality improvement projects.  You will also assess costs and schedule in order to prepare budget item proposals, profitability estimates and justifications for capital appropriation requests.  You will comply with technical and managerial internal standards and procedures and champion flawless execution. 


Job Responsibilities: 

 

  • Develop and implement new processes to increase the capacity of existing units or to manufacture new products at the lowest cost in agreement with security regulations and environmental issues while meeting quality standards
  • Improve the performance of existing manufacturing units to optimize productivity, meet high quality standards and comply with security regulations and environmental issues
  • Evaluate daily production results regarding capacity, yield, quality, waste streams and energy consumption and make corrections
  • Assist manufacturing in troubleshooting by interfacing with operations and maintenance personnel daily
  • Assist with quality improvement projects to sustain production level, quality and security 
  • Comply with and enforce technical and managerial internal standards and procedures and use project management as a standard tool to guarantee project outcome, timing and quality
  • Assist safe and efficient operations, optimizing plant reliability/asset utilization/operational sustainability and cost control
  • Assist in maintaining procedures in area of responsibility
  • Improve operating procedures and operator instructions
  • Identify and implement process improvement and cost optimization efforts
  • Know key parameters of every unit operated and/or maintained in area of responsibility
  • Responsible for having technical expertise available and proposing solutions that maintain a high level of operational/reliability discipline
  • Assess costs and schedule to prepare budget item proposals and selection, profitability estimates and justification of capital appropriation requests
  • Identify trends, potential issues and proactively solve problems
  • Complete management of change documentation
  • Establish action plans
  • Report production test results
  • Attain plant reliability targets
  • Serve as a member of the site productivity and reliability teams
  • Respond to incident investigations relating to operating errors/training
  • Perform duties of the Area Manager in his/her absence

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering required
  • 3+ years’ experience in the chemical/petrochemical industry in either Engineering or operational technical support role OR participation in the Eastman Launch program required
