Responsibilities

The process technician controls equipment systems that process chemical substances into specified products.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

•    Ensure plant equipment is properly lined up, controlled, and monitored for safe and efficient operations
•    Responsible for the operation of the production units, boilers and cooling towers, waste treatment unit, and product loading.  
•    Perform minor maintenance and laboratory work
•    Perform equipment cleaning 
•    Initiate work permits to ensure safety/efficiency of plant equipment
•    Active participation and compliance with site Total Safety Process
•    Understand and comply with good manufacturing practices to support quality and safety of animal feed (as part of FAMI-QS) and overall product quality (as part of ISO 9001).
•    Must be able to work in an industrial environment, which includes lifting 50 lbs., climbing to heights, work in confined spaces, and passing a physical/respirator fit test
•    Ability to serve on emergency response team/fire brigade
•    Ability to learn and qualify in multiple unit processes
•    Flexibility to work rotating 12 hour shifts, weekends, holidays, and call-outs


EDUCATION:  
•    High School diploma or GED required;  Process Technology degree or certification highly recommended


EXPERIENCE:  2-5 years experience in a petrochemical or manufacturing environment. Technician must have necessary qualifications to advance through the progression levels.   


TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES, KEY SKILLS & ABILITIES:
•    Good written, listening and verbal communication skills
•    Computer skills including basic word processing and spreadsheets
•    Personal attributes include:  team player, self-directed learning, and flexibility with changing tasks and priorities
