As an Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer at Eastman, you’ll provide necessary engineering and technical support to continuously improve plant instrument, electrical & DCS equipment integrity, reliability, cost and on-stream factor.
How you’ll help us innovate to build a better world
- Specify hardware; program, troubleshoot, and recommend repairs, upgrades and expansions of DCS and PLC systems in the plant
- Specify, troubleshoot, upgrade, and improve instrumentation systems including meters, sensors, transmitters, valve automation, analyzers, etc.
- Coordinate with the local power company on purchased power needs to assure the continued reliability of the plant’s electrical distribution system
- Monitor purchased power cost, demand, and equipment loading. Advise management of any trends or problems which could affect plant operability
- Provide engineering and technical support instrumentation & electrical technicians on proper repair methods and techniques. Support field maintenance to resolve I&E field problems
- Actively participate in department and plant safety programs and scheduled safety audits. Promote safety rules and regulations
- Participate in OPHR/Hazard Reviews/ORI’s as needed
- Investigate equipment failures, determine root cause of failure, and recommend appropriate solutions
- Assist in the development and ongoing improvement of the plant mechanical integrity program
- Design and specify alterations and revisions to improve equipment requirement and/or system reliability & capacity
- Participate in the development of procedures and programs to support Quality Assurance programs and ISO efforts
- Assist in the development, implementation, and periodic review of preventative/predictive maintenance programs
- Continually assist in the development, implementation, and administration of departmental budgets, procedures, and guidelines and minor capital budget projects
- Keep current with and evaluate new methodologies, work practices, equipment, instrumentation, controls and technology for application and use within the plant
- Participate in the planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns. Provide support as required during shutdowns
- Interface with operations on plant radio communications to address needs and problems.
We would love to hear from people with (Qualifications)
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or other engineering discipline with significant experience in Instrumentation or Electrical.
- At least 5 years of experience in a chemical or industrial manufacturing setting, including experience related to electrical or instrumentation engineering
