The Electrical and Instrument (E &I) Engineer will provide necessary engineering and technical support to continuously improve plant instrument/electrical & DCS equipment integrity, reliability, cost and on stream factor.
Responsibilities include:
- Specify hardware, assist in programming, troubleshoot and recommend repairs, upgrades and expansions of DCS systems in the plant. Previous Yokagowa and Honeywell experience is a plus.
- Assist in specifying, troubleshooting, upgrading and improvement of instrumentation systems including meters, sensors, transmitters, valve automation, analyzers etc.
- Specify hardware, assist in programming, troubleshoot and recommend repairs, upgrades and expansions of PLC systems in the plant.
- Coordinate with the local power company on purchased power needs and to assure the continued reliability of the plants electrical distribution system.
- Monitor purchased power cost, demand, and equipment loading and advise management of any trends or problems which could affect plant operability.
- Provide engineering and technical support Instrument/Electrical technicians on proper repair methods/techniques and support to field maintenance as required to resolve I&E field problems.
-  Participate actively in department/plant safety programs and scheduled safety audits. Promote safety rules and regulations.
- Participate in OPHR/Hazard Reviews/ORI’s on as needed basis.
- Investigate equipment failures, determine root cause of failure, and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Assist in the development and ongoing improvement of the plant mechanical integrity program.
- Design and specify alterations and revisions to improve equipment requirement and/or system reliability/capacity.
- Participate in the development of procedures and programs to support Quality Assurance programs and ISO efforts.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and periodic review of preventative/predictive maintenance programs.
- Continually assist in the development, implementation, and administration of departmental budgets, procedures, and guidelines and minor capital budget projects as applicable.
- Keep abreast of and evaluate new methodologies, work practices, equipment, instrumentation, controls, technology, for application and use within the plant.
- Participate in the planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns. Providing support as required during shutdowns.
- Interface with operations on plant radio communications needs and problems.


Education: BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or other engineering degree with significant experience in Instrumentation or electrical.
Experience: 5 plus years of experience in a chemical or industrial manufacturing setting with experience related to electrical or instrumentation engineering is preferred.
