Responsibilities
Eastman, a leading manufacturer of film interlayer products, has an immediate opening for a Maintenance & Quality Area Manager in Springfield, MA.
The Maintenance & Quality Area Manager is accountable for all centralized maintenance & quality services supporting the manufacturing processes, facilities, infrastructure, grounds and R&D facilities for the plant. In this role, you will set stretch goals and empower the organization to accomplish said goals. You will champion cross-functional alignment and collaboration across the site and serves as a coach and mentor, continually identifying and developing new leadership within and outside of your specific department.
This position sits on the Site Leadership Team and is vital to driving world-class maintenance and quality programs to sustain Safe, Reliable and Cost-Effective Operations at the site.
Responsibilities:
- Define the HSES performance standards for the Maintenance & Quality organizations and drive Eastman’s All-in-for-Safety culture and Zero Incident Mindset
- Manage, coach and develop the Central Maintenance Team Manager, Stores Operations, Maintenance Trainers and Planners to deliver high performing maintenance and reliability services to the site
- Manage, coach and develop the Quality Manager and Quality organization team members to deliver superior quality performance for our processes and our customers
- Ownership of site's Mechanical Integrity (PSM) and Quality Inspection (ISO) programs to comply with OSHA and ISO requirements
- Implement and maintain World Class Maintenance Processes (Planning & Scheduling, Preventative and Predictive Maintenance strategies) to drive Asset Reliability and ongoing reliability improvements
- Develop long-range Reliability Strategy and oversee site's MRT program, including monitoring of key KPIs (AEM Equipment, bad actors, PM compliance)
- Direct plant efforts in reviewing breakdowns and failures to eliminate root causes of the failures, increasing the on-stream time of the plant and reducing costs
- Oversee site's maintenance and reliability on-call programs to support Butvar and Saflex operations overnight and on weekends
- Establish strong relationship/partnership with Operations and other functional areas
- Work closely with Operations to understand and drive work priorities and resource allocation of centralized maintenance resources
- Prioritize work and manage conflicting site priorities
- Develop and manage M&R budget to support the Site Annual Business Plan and long-range strategy
- Actively participate on various maintenance and quality networking teams across sites and functional groups
- Collaborate with Procurement to select equipment vendors and define spare parts strategy
- Select and qualify contractors for Maintenance work to meet safety, quality, cost and deadline targets
- Collaborate with Operations/HSES departments to achieve safety, environmental and regulatory goals
- Role model the principles outlined in the Eastman Fair Treatment Policy, Eastman’s Core Values and other company and area-specific policies
- Strategically optimize resource levels to manage competing priorities; anticipate and adjust for constraints or future needs
- Maintain high quality, effective communications to provide constructive feedback and engage employees to their highest potential
- Champion effective talent acquisition and development and performance management initiatives
- Represent Maintenance and Quality on the Site Leadership Team (SLT)
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required
- Previous management experience required; exceptional leadership/coaching skills and the ability to build effective teams
- At least 5 years of Maintenance or related experience in a manufacturing environment highly preferred
- Knowledgeable of maintenance work processes and preventative maintenance programs highly preferred
- Knowledge of quality management systems highly preferred
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to establish strong partnerships with manufacturing and other client groups
- Exceptional organizational skills
- SAP proficiency required
