Lab Technician

• Support the Interlayers Technology group with laboratory experiments involving polymers, glass and glass laminates. 
• Communicate results, observations, and opportunities for improvement to durability program coordinator.
• Collaborate with others on varying Design and Development projects, utilizing optical, mechanical, analytical, and computer-based techniques.
• Prepare, distribute, and evaluate routine and non-routine samples.
• Support the evaluation and implementation of new technologies.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Develop/deliver equipment and technique training to others.
• Maintain controls and standards for select instrumentation.
• Assist with efforts to maintain ISO/TS certifications.
• Participate in documentation of safety procedures, technical reports, and invention reports.


• Associates Degree or Technical Diploma preferred.  B.S. in Science or Engineering degree a plus.Some background in optical measurements is a plus.
• Problem solving, math and science skills and familiarity with statistical methodology. 
• Formal training in general laboratory procedures.
• Strong commitment to task and ability to organize, prioritize, and execute assignments in a high activity environment.
• Initiative, drive, and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to work individually and in a team setting.
• Clear and effective written and oral communication.
• Demonstrated computer experience with standard software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).  Ability to program scripts and operate pivot tables in Excel. 
• Ability to rapidly learn new software interfaces. Experience in use and programming of relevant software packages including Visual Basic, LabView, and SAP is preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude.
