Architectural Technician
Responsibilities
- Conducting technical experiments and projects
- Preparing and testing laminated glass samples
- Communicating results, observations, and opportunities for improvement
- Collaborating with others on varying Design and Development projects, utilizing mechanical, analytical, and computer-based techniques
- Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting laboratory equipment
- Maintaining controls and standards for select instrumentation
- Leading and participating in multi-disciplinary teams
- Working with quality systems
- Developing hands-on and in-depth technical expertise
- Working in a fast-paced, results-oriented team environment to assist in developing new technologies that provide solutions to customers’ needs
- Preparing and supporting new or established technologies for commercial products and processes
- Scale-up evaluations
- Analytical measurements
- Working directly with external and internal customers in answering technical questions
- Documenting experimental work and writing technical and invention reports
- Working safely and promoting a safe work environment
- Conducting in-field product performance validation testing
Qualifications
- Associates Degree or Technical Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering preferred.
- Problem solving, math and science skills and familiarity with statistical methodology
Formal training in general laboratory procedures - Ability to organize, prioritize, and execute assignments in a high activity environment
- Initiative, drive, and the ability to work in a team setting. Clear and effective written and oral communication is essential
- General computer experience with relevant and Microsoft software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to program scripts and advanced spreadsheet functionality a plus.
- Ability to quickly learn the job (with mentoring from others)
