Product/Brand Management (P&L/revenue accountability) work is focused on driving branding/marketing strategies that result in successful products/brands including: Managing the product/brand P&L (e.g., budgeting expenditures, profitability, ROI etc.); Analyzing potential markets, competitor positioning, and customer buying patterns to project demand/profitability for potential products, key product features/requirements, favorable timing for product launch, etc.; Partnering with product development and marketing teams to ensure that customer needs for each targeted segment are incorporated into product design, branding, and marketing approaches; Developing product commercialization strategies (e.g., pricing, licensing, distribution etc.); Analyzing product/brand performance and customer feedback as input to product enhancements; May involve new product launch.  May include focus on managing incremental improvements to/expansion of an existing product or brand and short to mid-term sales and P&L targets.
Technical Specialist. Recognized as an expert in own area within the organization. Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise. Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends solutions/best practices. Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. Progression to this level is typically restricted on the basis of business requirement.  Impact of work is throughout geographic region.
