Corporate Communications Representative EMEA

Job Description

The Corporate Communications Representative EMEA leads, develops and manages comprehensive communications strategies that advance Eastman’s corporate strategy while promoting and protecting the company’s image in EMEA. This includes media relations, external communications, internal communications, executive communications, crisis communications and issues management communications in the EMEA HQ office and at the regional offices & sites. The emphasis of this role is on internal communications. This requires building relationships with key internal clients and senior management, understanding the company's business strategy, providing counsel for communications strategies, developing communications plans, implementing those plans, and evaluating results.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide communications counsel and planning on a regional basis for key strategic initiatives, programs, special projects, events and/or breaking news or potential crisis
  • Ensure a positive and cohesive public image through various collateral materials, internal publications, web sites, social media and employee communications
  • Communicate the corporate strategy to the media through ongoing media relations, including the dissemination of news, features and photo releases, proactive and reactive media contacts and crisis communications
     

Required Education and/or experience

  • Bachelors' degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field (or bachelor’s degree in another field, with relevant communications experience)
  • Minimum of 4 years work experience in corporate communications, public relations, media relations or marketing communications
  • Prior experience working for a Fortune 500 or publicly-traded company (Matrix organization)
  • Prior experience working in news media is a plus
  • Prior experience working with an Eastman business organization is a plus
  • Knowledge of social networking opportunities and strategies involving the convergence of traditional and new media 

  

Required skills/traits

  • Proven communications skills and demonstrated abilities in communications and public relations planning, research and evaluation
  • Excellent skills in writing, public speaking, and interpreting concepts/ideas into written and/or verbal form to selected audiences
  • Business proficiency in English, mastering other languages is considered a plus.
  • Possess leadership skills; demonstrate ability to lead projects and interact with multiple departments; support communications function in a crisis and maintain professionalism in times of crisis
  • Organized and high level of business maturity, high ethical standards, forward thinking, problem-solving, self-motivated and results-driven
  • Able to work with confidential information
  • Able to work well under pressure and deadlines; must be flexible and adaptable to unexpected changes and demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must demonstrate excellent people and intercultural skills; have proven ability to influence and negotiate across borders and be a good team member
  • Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
