Position Purpose

  • The Sourcing Manager (SM) is a full-time position based in the Shanghai Regional Headquarters, reporting to the Sourcing Manager, Asia in Shanghai.
  • The key roles of SM are supporting sourcing requirements for Eastman’s growing operations in China and support for Eastman’s businesses globally through sourcing from China and developing low-cost manufacturing economies in Asia.

Job Functions

  • In fulfilling the important roles above the SM has the accountabilities and responsibilities listed below:
  • Implementation of  purchase contracts for sourcing raw materials.
  • Capture market or product insight / intelligence and develop business options and conduct scenario planning.
  • Review and analyze all spend categories to ensure existing contracts are competitive.
  • Active involvement in the global procurement function, facilitating the flow of material and information from supplier to customer in the regions. 
  • Developing and maintaining effective high-level working relationships within Eastman, with suppliers, and with other key senior contacts across the globe in support of the development of the direct sourcing function and its  service to the global businesses.
  • Contributing to Zero Incident Culture by ensuring that sourcing team and suppliers comply with all relevant safety regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Implementing and complying with Global Sourcing and Corporate Processes:
  • Driving suppliers’ performance, working with Quality, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Employ best practices.

Knowledge and Skill Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Chemistry, Supply Chain or Business-Related Discipline.
  • Working experience of both functions and businesses in commercial roles  and the ability to represent all aspects of Eastman’s position with suppliers and other external contacts
  • Self-organizing with strong administrative skills
  • Enthusiasm to negotiate and close commercial contracts / supply agreements. 
  • Flexible in negotiation style as to adapt to different levels or profiles of counterparts in negotiation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex issues and convince stakeholders of the need for change.
  • Ability to analyze, summarize and present facts and findings. 
  • Fluency in English, with additional international languages being a benefit.
  • Familiar with negotiating processes, with Office Management, Sales and/or Purchasing experience.
  • Computer literate; good working knowledge of SAP Purchasing Module is an asset.
  • International experience and ability to work in different multi-country, multi-cultural and multi-national contexts, particularly in Asia.
