Site Manager

Oulu, Finland


Taminco Finland Oy is a subsidiary of Eastman Chemical Company based in Oulu, Finland. The Oulu site was established in 1952 and Eastman acquired it in 2014 from Kemira plc. The key products produced are formic acid & derivates and formamide. The products are found in various applications in industries such as food, leather, rubber, textile, chemical additives, pharma, and in plastic and silage additives. 


Role Profile:

As Manufacturing Site Manager, you will be responsible for all site activities, including safe and reliable operations of the production units while visibly leading the site on its journey to operational excellence. As a Role Model and coach, you manage site performance through metrics, communicate on all levels of the organization and leverage the utilization and deployment of corporate resources at the site.

  • Actively participate on business teams as well as manufacturing leadership teams
  • Be the role model, coach and mentor to others within and the broader site
  • Set the tone for the standards expected within the production areas and hold people accountable in support of set targets.
  • Champion the zero-incident mindset and ensuring Eastman basic safety expectations are met and that all production operations are carried out safely.
  • Act to satisfy the business demand, working with both Eastman and external business teams to ensure their needs are met.
  • Understand the process hazards in the areas and be able to respond effectively to process issues and equipment failures in each plant.
  • Lead a team of around 115 employees (4 direct reports) and will be responsible for their performance, development and motivation.
  • Lead performance improvement initiatives in the production units and assist in troubleshooting where needed.
  • Assign resources to ensure that gaps and opportunities for improvements are addressed across all areas within the production units.
  • Proactively develop a good working relationship with other functions on site to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Maintain a professional business relationship with guest operations, interpreting their requirements and allocating their resources effectively.
  • Be responsible for the production area budgets, working with your reports to minimize unnecessary wastage in raw materials, utilities and cost.

Required Education and Experience

  • A minimum of a Degree level qualification within an engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • People manager with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical background; able to contribute to plant discussions and solve process issues
  • Organizational and project development/management skills
  • Able to communicate effectively and manage internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Fluency in Finnish and English languages are essential
  • Strong personal commitment and takes ownership
