Taminco Finland Oy is a subsidiary of Eastman Chemical Company based in Oulu, Finland. The Oulu site was established in 1952 and Eastman acquired it in 2014 from Kemira plc. The key products produced are formic acid & derivates and formamide. The products are found in various applications in industries such as food, leather, rubber, textile, chemical additives, pharma, and in plastic and silage additives. As Production Manager, you will be responsible for the safe and reliable operations of all the production units on site. This position reports to the Site Manager and is a key member of the Site Leadership Team.

Role Description


•    You will set the tone for the standards expected within the production areas and hold people accountable in support of set targets.
•    You will champion the zero-incident mindset and ensuring Eastman basic safety expectations are met and that all production operations are carried out safely. 
•    You will act to satisfy the business demand, working with both Eastman and external business teams to ensure their needs are met.
•    You will understand the process hazards in the areas and be able to respond effectively to process issues and equipment failures in each plant.
•    You will lead a team of around 50 Eastman employees (5 direct reports) and will be responsible for their performance, development and motivation.
•    You will lead performance improvement initiatives in the production units and assist in troubleshooting where needed.
•    You will assign resources to ensure that gaps and opportunities for improvements are addressed across all areas within the production units.
•    You will proactively develop a good working relationship with other functions on site to ensure customer needs are met.
•    You will be responsible for the production area budgets, working with your reports to minimise unnecessary wastage in raw materials, utilities and cost.

Required Qualifications & Experience


•    MSc. or BSc. within an engineering discipline or equivalent. 
•    Relevant experience in managing a team, including managing performance objectives and targets.
•    Proven track record in production management.
•    People manager with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Able to communicate effectively at all levels through the organisation.
•    Good technical background; able to contribute to plant discussions and solve process issues.
•    Organizational and project development/management skills.
•    Strong personal commitment and takes ownership for the task at hand.
•    Fluent in Finnish and English languages.
