HSES Specialist/Engineer
Oulu, Finland


Taminco Finland Oy is a subsidiary of Eastman Chemical Company based in Oulu, Finland. The Oulu site was established in 1952 and Eastman acquired it in 2014 from Kemira plc. The key products produced are formic acid & derivates and formamide. The products are found in various applications in industries such as food, leather, rubber, textile, chemical additives, pharma, and in plastic and silage additives. 


Role purpose:

Plan and implement the site’s (health, safety, environment and security) policy and procedures so that the site complies with regulations and laws.


Main accountabilities:

  • Supervise implementation of health, safety, environment rules related local legal regulations and requirements according to company policies (EMN: AP and SOP), standards, corporate tools and programs.
  • Conduct health, safety, environment audits to identify risks and development possibilities.
  • Supporting HSES manager to meet national and company set requirements.
  • Evaluate the organization's production processes, systems, and technology and recommend changes that will improve and reduce the safety, security, environment impact of the organization's operations.
  • Coordinate the education and training of the organization's workforce on health, safety and environment issues to ensure that they understand and comply with the organization's policies and standards
  • Develop regional emergency response systems. Liaise with and influence for relevant internal/external stakeholders - local management and authorities - and advocate Zero Incident Mindset across the organization
  • Participate in process safety activities including process hazard analysis studies
  • Knowledge and know-how of site´s protection systems like fire alarm, gas sensors, camera surveillance, site access and firewater. Practical knowledge and know-how of firewater system.
  • Emission Trade system (ETS): quarter and annual calculation. Calculation is reviewed and approved by HSES manager.
  • Main user of IShare (velocityEHS) tool.
  • Supporting IShare tool (Incident and audit category modules) reports and follow-up and control of status of corrective actions
