QA Technician

Solutia UK is a wholly owned subsidiary of Eastman a global chemical company that produces a range of advanced materials, additives, functional products, specialty chemicals, and fibers that are found in products people use every day.

The Position

We currently have a vacancy for a QA Technician working at the Newport site, reporting to the QA Manager.

The successful candidate will support site operations through the following activities;

• Receive and analyse heat transfer fluid and hydraulic fluid samples to expected turnaround times using a combination of techniques, which include GC, flash point and particle count as well as a variety of classic analytical methods
• Communicate and report results through a variety of specialist database systems
• Perform calibration and troubleshoot problems with key laboratory instrumentation
• Support business through additional requests for special analysis or investigations
• Provide some analytical support to onsite production units.

The Person

The successful candidate will be;

• Safety conscious and have a good knowledge of chemical hazards
• Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities
• Capable of working under their own initiative and as a part of a team
• Reliable, conscientious and have a good work ethic
• Literate in Microsoft Office applications, previous experience using SAP would be an advantage.

Previous Experience
 

• Practical laboratory experience would be an advantage
• Degree level or equivalent in a scientific subject would be an advantage
• Experience working to a recognized quality standard would be an advantage.
