The Position

 

The successful candidate will report to the Newport site Engineering Manager and provide mechanical design expertise to the project team. 

The Role

 

  • Preparation of detailed drawings and design packages to allow piping/equipment to be fabricated and installed;
  • Support capital projects from conception and ensure the approval, design, procurement, construction and commissioning are safe, efficient and maintainable;
  • Accountable for ensuring that assigned projects comply with all relevant internal and external standards and requirements;
  • Provide the Projects Manager (or designee) with expenditure forecasts for assigned projects;
  • Undertake the mechanical engineering design for assigned projects;
  • Actively undertake safety participation activities and assigned site safety actions. 

The Person

 

Will ideally be working towards becoming a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and be a degree qualified Mechanical Engineer with several years' experience working in a similar environment. 

 

Key Experience would ideally include:

 

  • Mechanical design experience within the chemical industry;
  • Experience in the specification of equipment and preparation of tender documentation;
  • Project management experience;
  • Working in and leading multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Supervision and monitoring of site construction activities;
  • High degree of initiative and ability to plan, prioritise, and work with minimal supervision;
  • Cost estimation;
  • Drafting experience using Microstation V8i (Series 3).
