The Role


  • General instrumentation application & specification.
  • Preparation of Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS). 
  • Preparation of detailed drawings and design packages to allow instrumentation projects to be specified and installed.
  • Support capital projects from conception and ensure the approval, design, procurement, construction and commissioning, are safe, efficient, and maintainable.
  • Accountable for ensuring that assigned projects comply with all relevant internal & external standards/requirements.
  • Provide the Projects Manager (or designee) with expenditure forecasts for assigned projects.
  • Undertake the Instrumentation design for assigned projects.
  • Actively undertake safety participation activities and assigned site safety actions.

The Person


Will ideally be a member of Institute of Instrumentation of Measurement and Control, and be a degree qualified engineer with several years’ experience working in a similar environment.


Key experience would ideally include:-

  • Functional Safety: Safety Instrumented Systems for the Process Industry BS EN 61511-1:2017+A1:2017 (functional Safety practitioner/Professional).
  • Dangerous Substances, Explosive Atmosphere Regulations 2003 - Part 12 (DSEAR) . 
  • Drafting experience using Microstation V8i (Series 3) or Autocad.
  • Knowledge of drawing & file management using ProjectWise V8i (Series 4).
  • Project management experience.
  • Working in and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Supervision and monitoring of site construction activities.
  • High degree of initiative and ability to plan, prioritize, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Cost estimation. 
  • Sil Calculations.
  • Use of SAP.
