Description:

Global emphasis to support business needs as a member of the International Chemical Control Law (ICCL) team by supporting regulatory monitoring and reporting, customer inquiries, and industrial chemical clearance requests. Some additional duties may include providing assistance to other regulatory groups within PSRA. Provide support to various PSRA functions as needed for regulatory projects, such as new chemical registrations, clearances for developmental materials, governmental reporting, etc.

Provide timely communications on status of registrations or projects, industrial chemical questions, SDS industrial chemical country clearance requests, and customer inquiries

  • Cross-functional collaboration to provide responses to external customers and internal business colleagues
  • Support for Product Stewards highlighting Eastman materials containing substances appearing on select regulatory and pre-regulatory lists (e.g. Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC), Proposition 65, Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), Substitute It Now (SIN) List, etc.)
  • Complete reviews and enter comments for new commercialization requests and regulatory/toxicology reviews and in the Product Data Management system
  • Maintain records for new global registrations (e.g. US TSCA Premanufacture Notice, Low Volume Exemption; Polymer of Low Concern; Small Quantity Importation, etc.) and review country specific reports for compliance certification
  • Provide technical (composition/chemistry) and SAP support to regional ICCL experts
  • Monitor industrial chemical regulations globally with a focus on Central and South America or other assigned regions.

Responsibilities:

  • Support development of registration/clearance requirements for company product portfolios, while ensuring compliance with existing product & application regulations.
  • Support global chemical inventory control law compliance process.
  • Support global business units with evaluation of regulatory clearance and compliance requirements for products under development.
  • Support external customers with industrial chemical regulation inquiries.
  • Provide timely communications on status of petitions or projects, regulatory questions, and customer inquiries
  • Assist with compilation of required information for mandatory chemical reporting to regulatory authorities.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of global chemical regulations: existing regulations as well as monitoring for proposed changes or new regulations.

Qualifications

Skills & Capabilities:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, polymer science, or related technical field required
  • Experience in chemical regulations and/or stewardship preferred
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and results-driven, with excellent communication in English (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Critical thinking
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate across multiple functions
  • Ability to develop knowledge about the chemistry of products, the identity of the products, possible formation/presence of by-products, impurities, break-down products, additives used and contaminations by processing aids, packaging, storage and transportation
  • Microsoft Office application proficiency including SharePoint, PowerBI, strong Excel capabilities preferred
  • Ability to learn SAP functionality, familiarity with SAP preferred
