Responsibilities

The CTO Rep plays a pivotal role in managing our international shipments, ensuring compliance with import and export regulations, and maintaining smooth and efficient operations within the global supply chain. This person possesses strong organizational skills, knowledge of international trade regulations, and the ability to effectively communicate with both internal teams and external partners.

Tariff Classification and Valuation

  • Familiarity with Mexican customs regulations and procedures, including import and export documentation requirements.
  • Experience with Mexican taxation laws related to imports and exports, including Value Added Tax (VAT), duties, and the IMMEX Program.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

  • Ensuring compliance with Mexican legal and regulatory requirements related to international trade is a key responsibility.
  • Knowledge of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) or the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and its implications for cross-border trade is a plus.

Cost Management:

  • Monitor and control import/export costs, including duties, taxes, tariffs, and transportation expenses.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency improvements.

Process Control:

  • Monitor and update processes to ensure compliance with the security profile of CTPAT and AEO certifications.
  • Support internal audits and audits from regulatory bodies for CTPAT and AEO certifications.

Business Development and Project Coordination:

  • Actively participate in and coordinate strategic business development projects within the region.This includes but is not limited to:
  • New Resale Operations: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the feasibility and implementation of new resale operations, ensuring efficient supply chain processes and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Transportation Mode Expansion: Explore and evaluate the introduction of alternative transportation modes to optimize logistics routes and reduce costs.
  • Bounded Warehouses: Support the establishment and management of bounded warehouses, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and efficient storage and distribution of goods.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and potential partnerships that align with our logistics and supply chain growth objectives.
  • Project Planning: Develop project plans, budgets, and timelines, and work closely with stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
  • Risk Assessment: Assess potential risks associated with new business development initiatives and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Ensure all necessary permits, licenses, and documentation are obtained and maintained for new operations, and ensure compliance with regional and international regulations.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and government agencies to facilitate project approvals and ensure a seamless launch of new initiatives.
  • Reporting and Evaluation: Monitor and report on the progress and performance of business development projects, evaluating their impact on logistics and supply chain operations.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international business, Logistics, or a related field (preferred). 
  • Proven experience in import and export operations, customs compliance, and international trade.
  • Knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and tariff classifications. 
  • Experience with IMMEX processes, including compliance with Mexican regulations for temporary imports and exports.
  • Certification in AEO and/or CTPAT standards is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in using logistics and supply chain management software.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Fluent in both Spanish and English, with the ability to effectively communicate in both languages. Proficiency in Portuguese would be beneficial.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing requirement
