Eastman Chemical Company is seeking a Process Engineer in Martinsville, VA


Summary of Duties: 

Provide daily engineering support to the Operations team in gathering, monitoring, and analyzing production data from all process data systems. Participate in and ensure full compliance with the site's Total Safety process (TSP). Evaluate daily production results with regard to targeted capacity, yield, quality, waste streams, and energy consumption, and make corrections. Report production test results, including new process parameters, achievements, and difficulties. Develop all conceptual design, basic engineering, and process-related input for detailed engineering deliverables. Interface with contract project engineering personnel if needed. Cooperate with research and development (R&D) of new processes in order to guarantee that the final research report contains all required input for the plant design. Cooperate with new business development activities in order to estimate the capex need for implementing business growth plans. Work with maintenance team, vendors, and suppliers to ensure that machine specifications are correct for process conditions and that the best value technology is in use.


Qualifications:      Position requires a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field of study and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or in a mechanical engineering or manufacturing engineering role.  Alternately, will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field of study and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or in a manufacturing engineering role.  Position also requires one (1) year of experience with the following: data-driven decision-making; process optimization. This position requires any amount of experience with utilizing statistical tools such as Six Sigma, JMP, or Minitab; working with an industrial manufacturing facility.
