The Role

 

The Product Manager (PM) manages the product portfolio in alignment with the Market Segment Plans. The PM drives variable margin growth through pricing and product mix optimization, maximizing asset profitability and contributing to modified operating cash flow through working capital improvements. As a key member of the cross functional Segment Team, the PM will help orchestrate the building of offer elements and will monitor performance and adjust accordingly based on analytics, customer-centric recommendations, and product/asset expertise. 

 

The Product Manager will be based in Madrid, Spain and reports to the Global Product Director. 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for the management of the product portfolio as assigned, which includes both strategic and operational oversight.
  • Oversees the development and maintenance of the fact base for assigned products. The fact base includes competitive intelligence, supply and demand modeling, competitive technology and cost structure, market share, import/export analysis, and proactive communication of changes and conclusions.
  • Develops and maintains asset strategy, long term supply demand outlook and manages asset allocation to deliver business results
  • Champion/support continuous improvement and capital projects needed to increase capacity, increase yields, improve variable and fixed costs and/or otherwise improve the capability and profitability of our assets
  • Manage contract strategy and supply commitments (contracts) in conjunction with Commercial. Be the prime steward for contract development and execution
  • Facilitates commercialization for new products, end markets, applications, and different geographical locations to ensure successful launch or entry.
  • Facilitate the maintenance of updated product profiles, safety data sheets, and other core product support information as required. Support Commercial Team in responding to customer inquiries.
  • Oversee enforcement of product quality, customer specification requirements, and regulatory commitments of raw materials, packaging and finished goods as it pertains to products sold
  • Ensure IBP plans are managed in alignment with product and business unit strategies. Initiate actions to address variances, maximize value
  • Contribute to pricing strategy and offer development.  Responsible for pricing strategy and offer execution and value realization in partnership with Commercial team and Marketing; including utilizing analytics, monitoring costs, implementing price increases, competitive price analyses
  • Monthly Price Forecasting
  • Serve on Stage Gate Projects and/or as member of a segment team (as requested)

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • University master’s degree in science or commercial
  • 7+ years multifunctional experience in Product Management, Stream Management, Marketing, Supply Chain and/or Manufacturing
  • Required Travel:
  • 10% travel is required in this position-primarily to Eastman production sites or meetings with Eastman sales teams, but also including some customer travel. 

Required Skills and Competencies

 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence teams, even without direct authority
  • Good business and financial acumen. Understanding of value-based pricing is a must
  • Good numerical abilities 
  • Languages: fluent in English, Spanish is a plus
  • Must have strong analytical and thinking skills for complex problem solving and choice making
  • Good communication skills 
  • Commercial mindset
  • Able to work independently
