The Technology team at the Longview site is looking to fill a role that will drive these initiatives and support improved life-cycle assessment modeling.

Responsibilities

 

  • Complete and maintain environmental life cycle assessment (LCA) modeling for products and processes of Eastman and our competitive space. This includes automating the calculation of carbon footprints and other LCA metrics for all TXO products and utilities. 
  • Develop a strategy to optimize energy consumption in each TXO manufacturing area to implement improvements that align with Eastman's 2030 and 2050 greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals.
  • Provide engineering support for International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) certification of Eastman's chemical recycling efforts. Ensure compliance with consumption factors through successful completion of ISCC audits.  
  • Assemble annual PwC inventory TXO calculations for Scope 1 and 2 emissions.
  • Partner with colleagues in marketing, businesses, HSES, manufacturing, corporate sustainability, company leadership, and other functions to leverage LCA insights to drive growth, defend core businesses, and influence positive change. Work with operating areas to integrate required information into SAP.
  • Develop and apply expertise in state-of-the-art LCA and circularity metrics, including standards, emerging methodologies, and software to generate value-adding results in the face of technical and market complexity. Contribute to the development, testing, and external advocacy for new methodologies.
  • Lead projects with external consultants to achieve third-party certification of Eastman LCAs and provide engineering support.
  • Directly support customers with LCA and technical sustainability matters. 
  • TXO Decarbonization Projects division rep, as necessary.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor of Science required; Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Required: 2 years experience in a chemical manufacturing or processing area.
  • Familiarity with life-cycle assessments is a plus.
  • Innovative and creative problem solving.  
  • Project management and leadership experience preferred.
  • Initiative and the ability to work in a team setting. 
  • Clear and effective written and oral communication.
