Responsibilities

Join our team as a Product Handler at Eastman Chemical Company! In this role, you will be essential in ensuring the quality and safety of our packaging processes while contributing to a culture of safety and efficiency. We are looking for reliable individuals who can operate packaging units, maintain quality standards, and help train new employees.

  • Operate packaging units to fill bags, boxes, and other containers, ensuring proper weight.
  • Inspect products for quality during packaging and loading, remaining vigilant for contamination and reporting any issues to supervision.
  • Prepare and load containers for shipping according to established procedures.
  • Safely operate railcar movers to spot or move railcars as necessary.
  • Conduct inspections of facilities and equipment for safety hazards and operational issues, reporting findings to supervision.
  • Assist in training new employees on product handling procedures.
  • Perform minor maintenance activities and collaborate with maintenance personnel for major repairs or adjustments.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions accurately and efficiently.
  • Utilize computer systems to access procedures, complete required training, and input or retrieve data.
  • Adhere to all safety, environmental, and company policies.
  • Strong judgment and dependability.
  • Initiative in utilizing time and resources effectively.
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
  • Team player with a commitment to safety and adherence to company values.
  • Willingness to work assigned shifts and overtime as required.

Qualifications

  • Complete a 2 - 3-year apprenticeship program that includes: 
  • Classroom (books, hands-on labs, tests) - this portion is done primarily on the apprentice's own time 
  • On-the-job training 
  • On-going satisfactory performance 
  • Quarterly evaluations/feedback 
  • Maintain current status on all procedural and safety training Minimum WorkKeys scores of: 
  • Applied Math – Operator 5 
  • Graphic Literacy – Operator 4 
  • Workplace Documents – Operator 5 
  • Applied Technology - no minimum required, but scores are still a factor and reviewed by hiring managers 
    Successful completion of Select Assessment ® for Manufacturing administered by Talogy 
    (If you pass the initial screening you will receive an email from Eastman with instructions on how to complete this)
