Responsibilities

As the Process Engineering Group Leader in our Engineering Services Department, you will manage the process and relief device engineering team, overseeing design and technical support on a variety of projects across the site. You will lead a team of engineers and technicians and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project integration. Your expertise in process engineering principles, combined with your leadership, management skills and extensive experience, will be crucial in leading the team to drive teamwork, innovations and successful project execution.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to the following):
•    Lead and manage a team of process engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance, mentoring, collaboration, support and performance feedback. 
•    Oversee the planning, design, and execution of engineering scope of work by the team across all phases of a variety of projects and technical studies, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.
•    Establish goals, training, and development opportunities for direct reports in a manner that aligns with site/company vision. Mentor and develop emerging talent. Coach for outcomes and recognize/reinforce high performance. Lead the annual performance management process for the team. 
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, including engineering disciplines, project managers, engineering managers, project controls, operations, maintenance and procurement, to ensure seamless project integration and successful project delivery.
•    Monitor team workload, develop monthly team resource forecast and identify need for staffing adjustments. 
•    Provide guidance to team members on designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to project, standard and code requirements.
•    Monitor team member performance on KPIs, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure adherence to project requirements.
•    Support the team in providing technical support and guidance to operations, maintenance and project teams addressing any process engineering-related issues or challenges that arise.
•    Stay updated with advancements and trends in process engineering, and identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement within the organization.
•    Serve as a member of the Engineering Services department leadership team. Report on group and department KPIs, assist in the development and application of department policies and procedures, and cascade communications from leadership.
•    Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and professional development among the engineering team. 
•    Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and promote a safe working environment. Perform duties in a manner that emphasizes personal and process safety.  
•    Perform special projects as identified or as assigned.
•    Communicate up and down the chain of command using strong interpersonal skills and understanding of the right level of content/detail for various audiences. 
•    Create and maintain annual on-call schedule for the group. Participate in the division on-call rotation.
•    Other management duties as business needs dictate
 

Qualifications

Minimum
•    B. S. degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field. 
•    Strong knowledge of chemical engineering principles, practices, codes, and regulations.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to propose innovative and practical engineering solutions.
•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
•    Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

 

Preferred
•    Prior direct supervisory experience.
•    Minimum of 5 years of experience in chemical engineering preferred.
•    Proven experience in chemical engineering, design, implementation, and support in a manufacturing environment.
•    Experience utilizing software tools and applications (ASPEN, FRI, HTRI, AFT Arrow, AFT Fathom, SuperChems, etc) common in process and relief system design. 
•    Professional Engineer (PE) license.
