Responsibilities

 

The Plant Services Division (PSD) Director at Eastman’s Longview site is responsible for the health, safety and wellbeing of the PSD team as well as all contracting resources. The Plant Services Division is comprised of a diverse services team that supports site operations including but not limited to engineering, maintenance, asset integrity, reliability, capital programs, construction, contracting services, plant protection, security, emergency response and learning services. The Director is accountable for the safe, reliable and regulatory compliant operations of the facilities assets, the safety of all team members, strategic vision and direction of people, resources and asset management across the site, capital planning, development and management of division and site financial budgets.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and set strategic direction, vision and mission for the Plant Services Division; align division strategy to site and corporate goals
  • Oversee operations across PSD: engineering, maintenance, asset integrity, reliability, capital programs, construction, contracting services, plant protection, security, emergency response, contractor management and learning services
  • Ensure effective contractor relationships, procurement of services, contractor management and contractor safety and performance
  • Develop, manage and be accountable for division and site expense and capital budgets
  • Manage people: mentor and develop multiple direct reports, matrixed teams and broader organization (450+ indirect reports); conduct regular 1:1s, skip-level meetings and division leadership team meetings
  • Oversee activities of between 400 to 1000+ contractors at any time supporting the facility
  • Own safety and environmental leadership for the division; ensure compliance with Life Critical Safety processes and all regulatory requirements
  • Drive maintenance execution effectiveness, plant reliability, turnaround/shutdown effectiveness and asset integrity programs
  • Lead capital planning and delivery; manage capital project portfolio and gross margin optimization
  • Serve as a core member of the Site Leadership Team (SLT) and on corporate teams (WWE&C, WWM&R, MRO Sourcing Board, Contractor Relationship, Digital Manufacturing Steering Team, etc.)
  • Provide leadership and support for the Emergency Operations Center and lead or coordinate responses to emergency/crisis situations
  • Promote continuous improvement across services; track and drive year-over-year improvements in service effectiveness
  • Participate in field observations for safety, quality and productivity; ensure leaders spend time in the field
  • Support sitewide programs: workforce development strategy, policy setting and cross collaboration, town halls, safety onboarding, community/municipal engagement and after hours emergency response
  • Serve as owner for PSD Sharepoint sites and leadership team documentation

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
  • At least 10 years of manufacturing leadership experience required, preferably in chemicals, oil & gas or petrochemicals
  • Demonstrated track record of leading large teams and managing contractor relationships
  • Experience managing complex, multi‑year capital and expense budgets (site/division level)
  • Strong safety leadership with experience implementing safety improvement efforts and ensuring adherence to Life Critical Safety processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with executive leadership and frontline personnel
  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvement and develop leaders and succession pipelines
  • Ability to manage complexity, prioritize competing demands and make decisions under pressure
  • Crisis management experience; calm, methodical leadership during emergencies
  • Collaborative mindset with proven cross functional engagement skills
  • Willingness and ability to perform field work (PPE use, ladder/stair/climbing, walking uneven surfaces)
  • Occasional travel required (primarily Kingsport, TN and other domestic sites)

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or strong finance background
  • Valid Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license (a plus)
  • Formal leadership, change leadership and professional development training
  • Demonstrated resilience, humility and approachability as a leader
