Job Summary
As the Civil Group Leader/Supervisor in our Engineering Services Department, you will manage the civil, structural and fire protection engineering team, overseeing design and technical support on a variety of projects across the site. You will lead a team of engineers and technicians and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project integration. Your expertise in civil and structural engineering principles, combined with your leadership, management skills and extensive experience, will be crucial in leading the team to drive teamwork, innovations and successful project execution. This is an onsite role located in Longview, Texas.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team (6-12) of civil, structural and fire protection engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance, mentoring, collaboration, support and performance feedback.
- Oversee the planning, design, and execution of civil, structural and fire protection engineering scope of work by the team across all phases of a variety of projects and technical studies, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Establish goals, training, and development opportunities for direct reports in a manner that aligns with site/company vision. Mentor and develop emerging talent.
- Coach for outcomes and recognize/reinforce high performance. Lead the annual performance management process for the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, including other engineering disciplines, project managers, engineering managers, project controls, operations, and procurement, to ensure seamless project integration and successful project delivery.
- Maintain a system to monitor team workload, develop monthly team resource forecast and identify need for staffing changes.
- Provide guidance to team members on engineering designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to project, standard and code requirements.
- Monitor team member performance on key project performance indicators, identify potential issues or delays, and implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure adherence to project requirements.
- Support the civil, structural and fire protection engineering team in providing technical support and guidance to operations and to the engineering and construction project teams addressing any civil, structural and fire protection engineering-related issues or challenges that arise.
- Serve as a member of the Engineering Services department leadership team.
- Collaborate and foster relationships with vendors and suppliers to evaluate and select materials of construction for use in civil, architecture, structures and fire protection applications.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and promote a safe working environment. Perform duties in a manner that emphasizes personal and process safety.
- Perform special projects as identified or as assigned.
- Create and maintain annual on-call schedule for the group. Participate in the division on-call rotation.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil and structural engineering.
- Proven experience in civil or structural engineering, design, implementation, and support in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of civil and structural engineering principles, practices, codes, and regulations.
- Expert analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to propose innovative and practical engineering solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Prior direct supervisory experience desired.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Experience working in Chemical, Industrial, or similar Industry preferred.
