Maintenance Turnaround Planner/ Scheduler

Duties and Responsibilities:


Normally under the direction of a Maintenance Team Manager, duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Receive workface planning deliverables through SAP
  • Field review workface planning deliverables from both maintenance and contractor planners
  • Evaluate workface planning deliverables to understand the scope of work and identify relationships between activities
  • Receive shutdown and startup activities related to the turnaround from Operations through written communication
  • Develop an integrated turnaround schedule that includes maintenance and capital activities; establish milestones and build relationships and dependencies between activities as needed to track progress throughout the turnaround
  • Ensure that the schedule is manpower loaded to efficiently achieve the turnaround objectives
  • Schedule, coordinate, and procure all contractor assistance, rental equipment, and/or specialty tools necessary to execute the turnaround
  • Schedule and lead pre-turnaround meetings to review and validate the integrated turnaround schedule; identify and mitigate any collisions between execution groups during the maintenance window
  • Receive progress updates from all execution groups
  • Evaluate provided updates for accuracy and progress the integrated turnaround schedule
  • Identify risks to the critical path of the turnaround and develop actions to correct
  • Participate in the daily turnaround status meetings to identify items not progressing as planned and to develop actions to correct
  • Provide an updated turnaround schedule specific to each execution group at each shift change that outlines available and applicable critical path work
  • Perform basic math skills including working with fractions, decimals, and currency
  • Work in a self-directed work environment
  • Understand/follow written and verbal instructions/procedures and documented work processes
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and company rules and policies
  • Be available for overtime or alternate schedules and work rotating shifts as required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervision

Required Qualifications / Candidates Must Have the Following:

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Minimum five years of experience and knowledge related to planning and/or scheduling of petrochemical equipment
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Valid motor vehicle Driver’s License


Desirable / Preferred Skills/Qualities:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in an associated field
  • SAP Plant Maintenance Module experience
  • Technical expertise from formal training and/or work experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Broad experience with maintenance and/or construction in a petrochemical / refinery facility
  • Industrial maintenance skills (electrical and/or mechanical) and/or experience managing industrial maintenance tasks
  • Workface planning skills including development of step-out plans for industrial maintenance tasks
  • Coordinating and scheduling of various execution forces including contractors
  • Adherence to quality assurance processes and the inclusion of Quality Control into workface planning deliverables
  • Knowledge of job estimating and productivity evaluation methods for maintenance and construction crafts
  • Technical knowledge in working at heights
  • Understanding of critical path scheduling and experience utilizing Primavera P6 or similar scheduling tools.
  • Knowledge of process industry related safety and environmental policies and programs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Behavior Based Safety process.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Excel, and Access including the ability to create basic spreadsheets
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to complete a variety of seemingly unrelated tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate clearly and tactfully with a broad range of people.
  • Ability to plan-ahead and handle many details
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
