Job Description


DCS Engineers in Engineering & Services Department, DCS Group, provide engineering, platform, and process control support to plant operations, maintenance, and project teams for the Emerson DeltaV Distributed Control Systems (DCS) at the Longview, Texas site.



Job Responsibilities


  • Provide DCS engineering technical support in a chemical manufacturing plant, primarily at the Longview, Texas site, but for other sites as requested.
  • Implement advanced control strategies to optimize process reliability and throughput, including:  loop analysis, loop tuning, feedforward control, automated sequences, dead time compensation, APC/MPC, and alarm management. 
  • Perform DCS configuration and checkout activities to support capital projects.
  • Coordinate software and hardware upgrades for production plants.
  • Determine scope of work for DCS portion of projects.
  • Provide DCS equipment specifications to support procurement and construction activities for projects.
  • Participate with DCS team members on improvement projects, standards, and best practices related to DCS applications.
  • Provide on-call DCS support for operations and plant maintenance.   
  • Stay abreast of new control technologies and other industry practices through attendance at user symposiums, meetings with vendors, vendor training, and review of industry literature.
  • Prioritize work assignments based on the safety, environmental, regulatory, and economic value to Eastman.
  • Perform duties with attention to safety in both work practices and design. 
  • Perform duties with a focus on team work and customer satisfaction.



Job Qualifications/Skills



  • Experience with Emerson’s DeltaV DCS platform on implementation, upgrades, and support activities, two-year minimum.  Other control platform experience is beneficial.
  • Experience with process control in a chemical manufacturing plant.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
