Accountant
Responsibilities
The incumbent shall be responsible for the financial operations and maintenance of accounting records, files and documents so as to ensure accuracy and timeliness in support of the company’s business needs and financial obligations. Handles the various specified accounting processes in meeting the company’s business obligations.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Possesses and applies accounting principles and standard practices to the classification and recording of financial transactions
- Reporting financial data in a timely and accurate manner for effective decision making and compliance with the corporate and local tax, statutory and other regulatory requirements, as well as to assist in developing and maintaining accounting / finance procedures to mitigate exposure to internal control risks
- Handles/Assists in costing related tasks, including preparation of cost reports, in a timely and accurate manner for the manufacturing sites in Kuantan. Provides support in terms of data and analysis for cost centre spending with comparisons to the budget/forecasts.
- Participates as a member of teams within areas of responsibility appointed to study and resolve specific decision situations
- Provides informal guidance to new teammates
- Works with a moderate degree of supervision to perform the following responsibilities:
- Performs monthly accounting responsibilities such as journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, external reporting, key controls, etc.
- Liaise with authorized signatories for approvals
- Liaise with regional / intercompany contacts
- Liaise with External Auditors
- Liaise with Tax Consultants
- Liaise with Company Secretary
- Liaise with local government authorities, as needed
- Recommend good and sound internal controls.
- All other tasks and responsibilities as delegated by the Finance Manager from time to time.
- Comply to relevant quality, environment, health and safety management systems requirement established at site.
Qualifications
- Experience in general accounting/manufacturing accounting
- Possess a minimum Certificate in Business, Accounting or Finance, or a Degree in Accounting or Finance from a recognized college or university.
- Be able to demonstrate general knowledge of PCs and common related software. Experience in SAP (FI Module) would be an added advantage
- Fluency, both written and verbal, in English and Malay. This position must be able to express business and technical needs to English-speaking support people. He/she must be able to participate in a business discussion and represent the interests of the Kuantan site.
- Able to express ideas effectively in both individual and group situations. In addition, he/she should be able to organize and express ideas clearly in written documents. In both situations, this position should be able to adjust his language and terminology to the needs of the audience. He/she should be able to listen to and understand customer needs. In addition, he/she should be able to anticipate customer needs and give a high priority to customer satisfaction.
