Responsibilities

We are seeking a Temporary Need Employee to coordinate the Summer Youth Baseball Program in Eastman’s Recreation Department. This position is needed generally from February through July only and requires a flexible schedule with peak hours worked during summer months.  This role reports to the Recreation Team Lead.

 

Responsibilities:
•    Assisting in recruiting, training and onboarding coaches and scorekeepers.
•    Providing oversight of scheduling and developing team rosters.
•    Ensuring playing fields are prepared for games in collaboration with facility owner/manager.
•    Tracking and maintaining participation data and team statistics.
•    Serving as the primary point of communication with coaches and parents/guardians, especially related to schedule changes, special activities and reminders. 
•    Maintaining software used for summer youth programs.
•    Collaborating closely with Eastman Recreation staff.
•    Gathering and consolidating feedback from coaches and participants and  incorporating learnings into program enhancements.

Qualifications

•    High school diploma or equivalent (GED). A bachelor’s degree in physical education, athletic administration or related field is preferred.
•    Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in athletics and coaching with preferred experience with children/youth.
•    Proficiency in youth baseball, with an emphasis on fundamentals and skill development.
•    High degree of professionalism with excellent organization, adaptability, attention to detail and follow-through.
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is beneficial.
