Responsibilities
Limited Service Employee (LSE) positions are part-time, without benefits. LSE's are eligible to work up to 1300 hours in any 12-month period of time.
Program Objectives:
- Provide opportunities for current college students & recent graduates who have completed at least one full year of a college chemistry class that included a lecture and hands-on lab.
- Provide a first-hand view of industry
- Provide the opportunity for hands-on experience in a manufacturing quality control laboratory environment
- Simultaneously operate a variety of analytical instruments to perform sample tests.
- Use volumetric glassware, balances and dispensing devices to prepare samples for analysis.
Job Description:
- The program is designed so that LSE Summer Analysts may work a minimum of 10 weeks (12 weeks or more preferred). It is anticipated that participants will work between 36 to 48 hours each week.
- Participants may be eligible for future work during other school breaks, holidays, etc.
- The individual will be trained to perform the responsibilities of the job through completion of an on-site structured training program.
- Work scheduling will be by assignment on a weekly basis to cover a regularly scheduled shift, but participants must also be willing to work on a call-in basis with notice as short as 8 hours in advance.
- The work schedule for this position is less-than-full time since it is not a permanent, on-going position.
- The employment status for this position is considered "temporary"; therefore, no employee benefits (health care, life insurance, etc.) are provided.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts.
- Must be an undergraduate college student, or recent graduate (within six months) from a 2-year or 4-year degree program.
- Must have completed at least one full year of a college chemistry class that included lecture and hands-on lab. Class must be completed by end of Spring semester 2025. High school AP Chemistry does not fulfill this requirement.

- Prior experience in a laboratory environment or advanced (post-high school) study in Chemistry is highly desirable.
- Computer experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
