We’re hiring a North Coal Gas Staff Engineer role in Acetyls Manufacturing Department. In this role, you’ll partner with Operations, Maintenance, Engineers, and other support staff to identify and implement improvements to the manufacturing process in areas of safety, environmental, productivity, quality, cost, and reliability. Other duties include day-to-day troubleshooting and assistance with crew projects. This position reports to the Acetyls Manufacturing Technical Manager.


How you’ll help us innovate to build a better world

 

  • Work closely with Technical, Operational and Maintenance resources to identify, develop, and implement improvement projects
  • Provide daily technical support for production processes, utilizing technical expertise to resolve plant issues and repairs
  • Maintain an awareness of Manufacturing concerns through daily interactions with Staff, Operators, and Supervision
  • Drive reliability and other general improvements within the department
  • Develop and lead efforts in Manufacturing to meet key business and site initiatives while maintaining a focus on safety
  • Champion Zero Incident Mindset by engaging with team members
  • Provide section environmental support for production processes including Title V air emissions, reasonable inquiries, semi-annual reviews, and state audits)
  • Serve as the Manufacturing interface with Engineering and HSES departments, as required
  • Participate in the area maintenance planning process and identify improvement opportunities
  • Coordinate and implement capital project work within the department
  • Develop and prioritize a project portfolio; coordinate resources for implementation
  • Provide operational oversight for the MOC process, as needed
  • Provide technical assistance and leadership to Operations
  • Provide back-up assistance in the absence of the Manufacturing Supervisor or Manager when needed
  • Provide occasional weekend duty coverage for the department once onboarding training is complete
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with all stakeholders
  • Maintain familiarity with PSM, including PHAs and LOPAs. Participate on PHA teams. Generate and execute projects to address action items

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university.  
  • 3+ years of experience in a chemical manufacturing plant
  • Strong technical and engineering skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to support working with a broad cross-section of employees
  • Experience in a broad spectrum of chemical processing unit operations, instrumentation, and controls
