Role Description


The Service Architect role at Eastman requires specialized depth and/or breadth in information technology expertise to design solutions across the function or multi-functional area he/she supports. Working with a small team of professionals in a Service Delivery model, the Service Architect proactively identifies and formulates potential solutions to improve products, processes, or services. Leadership and relational skills are needed to engage team members while delivering the identified solutions that are complex and of moderate to high risk. Depending on the function(s) or area(s) supported, the impact of this role can vary from division level to that of global significance.



    Technical advisor to Finance department - treasury, tax, accounting, tax, and FP&A business teams and provide market insights
•    Lead technical architecture for Digital Transformation in Finance / Record to Report (R2R) area
•    Identify opportunities to overcome internal/external business challenges, propose new solutions, and recommend best practices in Finance / Record to Report (R2R)
•    Must work effectively with cross-functional groups and a geographically dispersed global user base in a virtual environment to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Communicates IT capabilities to business leaders to influence decision making and strategy
•    Engage with software solution providers to improve solution delivery within the framework as a standard offering
•    Understand current IT solutions that
support business processes
•    Create a comprehensive business process map, including mapping IT assets to solutions
•    Maintain responsibility for the overall service area process documentation
•    Assess the implications of IT offerings from external service providers on the Eastman
corporate landscape
•    Research external software and business solutions to evaluate the benefit to Eastman
•    Responsible for the overall integrity of the solution and maintain a
strategic view of the architecture
•    Participate in the IT architect community to influence Eastman's IT architecture

Education and Experience


 Education: Minimum Bachelor of Science degree is required for this role (Computer Science / Information Systems preferred)
•    Minimum 5 years of experience
•    Has implemented technical solutions to multiple business / functional areas
•    Proven track record of innovative problem solving and futuristic thinking
•    Experience in several, if not all, of the following SAP FICO sub-modules desired; General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Fixed Assets, Profit center accounting, cost center accounting, product costing, and Profitability Analysis, Tax
•    Nice to have but not required experience in S4 HANA - Demonstrated knowledge of S/4 Financial Accounting and S/4 Controlling
•    Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent tasks
•    Collaborate with technology and business team members to develop and implement financial process area roadmaps.
•    Excellent team player with a "can-do" attitude, business process analysis, and problem-solving skills
•    Collaborate with members of other process and IT teams to configure the solution
•    Good communication skills; the ability to convey ideas in written form, and the capability to share those ideas verbally in a clear, concise manner
•    Broad technical skills with experience defining innovative solutions
•    The ability to accept and promote change, customer-oriented, positive and flexible 
•    Willing to learn business practices with the ability to balance technological solutions against cost and justification and to mitigate risk
