What you'll be doing

As Plant Designer in Process Engineering, your primary objective is to enable the design of world-class chemical plants by creating precise drawings and models using computer software. You will work closely with engineers and designers to translate conceptual ideas into detailed technical drawings, contributing to the development of Technical Definition Effort packages. You will be responsible for plot plans, equipment layouts, piping layouts, isometrics, and preliminary 3D models. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and extensive knowledge of industrial design principles.

 

Responsibilities:

 

•    Utilize software to create 2D and 3D drawings/models per project specifications.
•    Collaborate with engineering teams to translate design concepts into technical drawings/models.
•    Develop detailed plant layouts to optimize space, workflow, and safety.
•    Arrange equipment and machinery for maximum efficiency, maintenance, and operability.
•    Revise and update drawings to reflect design changes and improvements.
•    Participate in design reviews to enhance design processes and efficiency.
•    Review and inspect “as-built” drawings.
•    Update layouts based on field measurements and verifications.
•    Incorporate vendor drawings/documents to ensure accurate equipment representation.

Qualifications

 

•    5 years of relevant experience in a mechanical drafting or design role required.
•    Experience in performing field walk-downs, verifying field measurements and creating isometric drawings
•    Adept at learning and working with digital tools such as ProjectWise, SharePoint, AIM, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Excel, and PowerPoint, in developing and using customized settings within MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
•    Knowledge and understanding of mechanical, piping, and electrical design and basic construction principles
•    Experience in managing multiple projects
•    Willingness to travel on occasion (10% or less of job time).
