The Opportunity

 

The Eastman Benefits team supports the physical, financial, and emotional wellbeing of all our team members and their families. The Retirement Plans Benefits Analyst supports this purpose by working closely with other internal colleagues and external vendor partners to effectively manage the administration of our pension, 401(k) and HSA plans. This position is accountable for plan administration, financial analysis and audit, data reporting, and participant support.

Responsibilities

 

Administration


• Ensure that all Plan documents and procedures are complete and accurate 
• Maintain effective and compliant processes of the Pension Plans, 401(k) Plan and HSA Plan 
• Process pension payments and related reconciliations for benefit payments 
• Process 401(k) plan and HSA bi-weekly payroll files, resolving issues as needed on a timely basis
• Support the process to ensure that participants in the 401(k) and Pension Plans receive benefit and required distribution information
• Through extensive knowledge of Plan provisions and associated regulations, provide expert guidance to the administration and compliance processes

 

Financials


• Support the annual retirement plan audit process
• Provide data, reports and files required for Accounting and Treasury to develop 11K and other financial statements
• Work with Plan administrator to facilitate pension requests and provide data required for valuations and statements
• Provide data input for Form 5500 filings, ensuring accuracy and completeness

 

Data & Reporting


• Identify, analyze and interpret trends in large data sets, investigating anomalies, researching data patterns, and resolving concerns
• Develop dashboards, graphs, and other visualizations as needed
• Prepare written reports summarizing findings and recommendations

 

Employee Services


• Research and respond to complex questions regarding interpretation of retirement benefit plans, including eligibility, vesting and benefit calculations. 
• With the legal team support, manage participant appeals and appropriately update management.

Skills

 

• Demonstrated and advanced understanding and application of retirement benefits plan design, administration and compliance is required.  
• Critical thinking and effective decision making are expected for the activities and projects.
• This position requires the ability to exercise judgment, set priorities, organize, implement and administer effectively in all areas of accountability. 
• In addition, the position must demonstrate care and understanding in dealing with employees in a fast-paced environment and the ability to maintain confidentiality of all employee information.  
• Knowledge and experience in applying federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to benefits administration is required.

Qualifications

 

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferably in Accounting, Finance or Data Analytics
• 5 years’ experience working with pension, 401(k) and HSA plans
• Knowledge of and ability to use HRIS systems and other software packages for reporting and data analysis
• Advanced data analytics capabilities with experience in large, complex excel spreadsheets, databases and vendor software systems
• Strong communication skills, with employee centered focus and attention to detail
