  • Coordinates partnership activities for Eastman and the contract rail services provider. 
  • Working with Railroad Technologist, serves as a lead employee to provide direction and information for all plant rail operations and projects. 
  • Assists personnel in troubleshooting daily railroad issues and supports identifying and correcting problems associated with rail operations.
  • Assists with Railroad Maintenance Coordinator activities when needed and provides leadership duties in the absence of the Railroad Technologist.
  • Be the communication between operations for switching and spotting request and logistics for the outside railroads to continually improve performance of the service.
  • Provide oversite and assistance to the Kingsport Site Operations pertaining to railroad switching and track maintenance to support and meet the needs of the plant. 
  • Communicate daily and or weekly with operations and Rail switching provider to identify and concerns that may affect operations daily processes or outbound shipments.



  • Must have High School Diploma or equivalency
  • 2-5 years’ Rail knowledge preferred
  • Railroad switching, scheduling, safety experience preferred
  • Manufacturing and Maintenance background a plus
  • Must be willing to take and pass the Railroad Track Inspection and Safety Standards workshop as presented by the University of Tennessee
  • Must be willing to take and retain knowledge taught in the AAR Derailment Investigation and Prevention Seminar as well as attend regular refresher courses on this subject
  • Must possess a Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be familiar with basic computer functions such as email & data entry using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, & Word
  • Must be able to perform all safety procedures and wear appropriate company provided personal protective equipment as needed/required
  • Must have a strong work ethic, demonstrating both initiatives, & professional attitude.
  • Must be able to perform the essential elements of the positions with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must successfully completed the NCRC WorkKeys Assessment with appropriate scores
    • Reading for Information / Workplace Documents – 6
    • Locating Information / Graphic Literacy - 5
    • Applied Mathematics - 6
