Job Description

Quality Assurance Representative will work with minimal supervision to support quality systems in the manufacturing processes in Polymers Quality and Customer Service Group.  This role requires routine and frequent interaction with business organizations, supply chain, operating areas, materials handling, procurement, logistics, suppliers and external customers.  Managing multiple projects, both short and long term, is expected in this assignment. The QA Rep role provides an individual with various business, customer, and manufacturing opportunities that are excellent experience for future manufacturing, supply chain, sales or business assignments. 


  • Minimum Education Requirements: B.S. in Engineering, Chemistry, or related science degree
  • High level of interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to work independently and with others
  • Self motivated with strong problem solving skils
  • Ability to make risk-based decisions on product quality issues
  • Effective project management skills; capable of handling multiple projects 
  • Ability to quickly understand new manufacturing processes and quality systems 
  • Willingness to travel as needed (typically less than 10% of the time)
  • Effective oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to lead meetings and present technical investigations
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and Office programs
  • Experience with SAP and LIMS (desired)
  • Previous manufacturing
  • support experience or technical service background (desired)
  • Experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control (desired)
  • Knowledge and understating of ISO and cGMP (desired)
  • Six Sigma, DOE, root cause analysis and SPC experience/knowledge (desired)

Job Responsibilities

  • Providing direction to Manufacturing, Development, Supply Chain, and Business Organizations on quality assurance issues
  • Leading quality related root cause investigations including customer complaints-- determining root cause / corrective actions and providing responses
  • Investigating, documenting, and resolving deviations or other non-conforming events
  • Managing and leading multiple projects ranging from daily customer responses to long-term quality system improvements
  • Working with the manufacturing area to proactively identify and eliminate potential sources of quality defects (Failure Modes and Effects Analyses, Gap Analyses)
  • Proactively monitor and manage blocked stock inventory
  • Interacting with customers including complaint investigations, customer inquiries, surveys, and process change notifications
  • Reading and responding to customer call reports for potential opportunities to proactively understand and resolve various concerns before they are elevated to a complaint
  • Interacting with suppliers;  sales spec & fitness for use requirements and providing appropriate communication to suppliers 
  • Identify and lead quality system improvements that result in reduced cost and improved product quality and serving as QA Rep on other improvement projects 

Job Responsibilities Continued

  • Plan and lead quality culture and awareness initiatives that support continual improvement and corporate strategy
  • Developing and maintaining sales specifications, both general sales and customer specific specifications; Statistically analyze data to support appropriate specifications
  • Represent the quality function on new product commercialization teams 
  • Approving all changes that potentially affect intermediate or final product quality
  • Managing corrective and preventive actions identified through external and internal quality events
  • Coordinating and participating in quality audits (ISO, regulatory, customer, supplier)
  • Writing/revising, reviewing, monitoring and approving quality documentation as required
  • Developing and implementing statistical process controls using appropriate quality tools and statistical techniques
  • Developing, monitoring and reporting appropriate and effective process metrics
  • Developing, implementing and continuously monitoring quality plans and related control plans, ensuring continuous conformance to quality requirements
  • Ensuring contractual quality requirements are reviewed, understood and communicated to all affected functions and personnel
