Role Description

 

The Project Manager position is a specialized individual contributor in which the individual provides a very high level of individual professional contribution and expertise by possessing in-depth knowledge of accounting processes and a broad knowledge of  multi-functional processes and the interrelationship with financial reporting and results. Responsibilities of this position will include senior project manager or complex accounting process specialist roles that require cross-functional or global collaboration and leadership to achieve transformational process improvement, business acquisitions, divestitures or integrations, or creation of global corporate policies related to accounting matters. This position is recognized as a thought leader in area of expertise.

Responsibilities

 

  • Employs conceptual and innovative thinking to solve unique, complex issues with broad impact or related to divisional or business strategy
  • Leads cross-functional teams or  projects with notable complexity, risks and resource requirements
  • Performs advanced or specialized work that requires comprehensive knowledge of accounting theory and principles and Eastman financial and business processes
  • Mentors less experienced project managers by sharing best practices, techniques and tools. 
  • Works independently within general policies and guidelines to perform the following responsibilities,, requiring guidance in only the most complex situations:
  • Provides Finance leadership on cross-functional teams appointed to study and resolve specific decision situations
  • Completes deliverables required in support of key processes for division and key customers, such as corporate rolling forecast and strategy quantification, cost structure planning, statutory reporting and/or business integrations or divestitures
  • Works with internal clients to interpret challenges and recommend best practices for process/service improvements; identifies and implements areas for improvement or productivity gains, offers solutions for problem solving; may design systems or processes to facilitate implementation
  • Provides guidance and direction to various process stakeholders both inside Eastman (cross-functional) and outside (third party service providers)
     

Education and/or Experience

 

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance required, MAcc preferred
  • 15+ years of accounting experience, typicallyWorks independently within general policies and guidelines 
  • Solves unique and complex issues
  • Exercises conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions
  • Effectively communicates complex ideas
  • Persuades others to adopt a different point of view
  • Works well under pressure 
  • Manages multiple projects effectively
  • Maintains confidentiality 
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and concepts
  • Expert knowledge of key systems/tools  (SAP, BICL, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to develop trust-based relationships and present different points of view
  • Strong problem solving and collaboration
  • Strong project management and advisory skills
