Responsibilities

 

The Pressure Vessel Engineer position in Worldwide Engineering & Construction (WWE&C) provides engineering support for Eastman manufacturing facilities worldwide. Projects range from small, fast- paced production requests to large, long-range capital projects and study jobs. This person will support the Capital Program, Plant Engineering, Maintenance, Asset Integrity and Construction efforts as they pertain to vessels and storage tanks.  


•    Partner closely with Global Engineering Design Services, Kingsport Plant Engineering, maintenance, fabrication shops, vessel inspectors and operations to achieve manufacturing, reliability, and maintenance objectives
•    Manage the project cycle through to completion, which includes investigation and/or troubleshooting, design, specification, fabrication oversight, installation, and startup support
•    Work with our Materials Engineering team on plant support projects
•    Provide vessel and storage tank design and project management support for manufacturing, maintenance, vessel inspection, fabrication, and capital projects
•    Provide and review vessel and storage tank calculation support for project work (e.g. COMPRESS, PVElite, AMETank, etc.)
•    Leverage in-house experts to perform stress analysis through the use of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to determine suitability of vessels and components for service.
•    Leverage non-destructive testing results for in-service equipment to facilitate analysis (ultrasonic testing, radiography, magnetic particle testing).   
•    Perform vessel and vessel component designs, specifications, and calculations
•    Provide general vessel and storage tank support through specifications, standards, installation permits, and repair/alteration documentation
•    Understand and apply applicable codes (ASME, TEMA, API, NBIC)

Qualifications

 

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university is required
•    Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is considered a plus
•    Minimum 15 years industrial mechanical experience specializing in pressure vessel design engineering
•    Tennessee PE License preferred
•    Familiarity with ASME Section I and VIII
•    Familiarity with API 620 and 650
•    Familiarity with Nondestructive Examination (NDE) techniques and methods
•    Excellent interpersonal communication, organizational skills, visualization and hands-on experience
•    Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a team environment
