Role Description

A Marketing Communications Manager has strategic responsibility for the development and execution of integrated MarCom programs in support of a portfolio of related business divisions.  

Responsible for coaching and developing a global team to implement strategic marketing communications associated with growing platforms. This involves overseeing the ideation of creative campaigns, development of strategic marketing communication plans for targeted markets, businesses, and regions and the execution of these plans to generate qualified opportunities that lead to revenue growth.
 

Responsibilities

Identify and understand priority/targeted markets
•    Work in partnership with director level leadership to understand competitive segments and offers to guide positioning
•    Participate in the market discovery process to assess and fully understand markets 
•    Utilize existing audience research or initiate research to validate audience understanding

 

Develop communications strategy, plans and activities
•    Determine effective communication messages and channels 
•    Prepare integrated marketing communications strategies/plans
•    Develop Positioning/Message/Value Proposition

 

Lead a global team to implement plans 
•    Ensure creative brief is complete for deliverables
•    Collaborate with internal partners and external vendors to achieve objectives
•    Oversee development of materials created by team 
•    Liaise between external vendor and business to provide feedback

 

Measurement
•    Establish clear objectives for communications plans and measures to ensure effectiveness. Accountable for achieving objectives 

 

Branding
•    Recommend relevant product positioning and branding strategies
•    Help craft impactful value propositions for specific functions within buying process
•    Recommend positioning and communications in target markets to support market development

 

Budget Management
•    Manage overall budgets and ensure cost-efficiency
•    Quarterly review and adjustment of budget 

 

Leadership responsibilities 
•    Provide leadership and direction to a global team of professionals
•    Determine resource needs, recruit, and hire talent
•    Onboard, coach and develop capabilities within team   
•    Accountable for the performance and results of team within own discipline or function
•    Serve on the MarCom leadership team to develop and lead key initiatives to optimize MarCom processes, harmonize the MarCom team and build Eastman capability
•    Develop sub-department plans, including organizational priorities 

 

Essential Skills
•    Solid understanding of B2B multichannel marketing  
•    Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking and consulting skills
•    Strong influence and negotiation skills
•    Demonstrated track record in determining, evaluating, and managing budget
•    Proven ability to effectively lead a team of individuals to deliver superior outcomes 
•    Clear talent for building and developing relationships with functional partners 
•    Superior written and verbal communication skills
•    Eye for detail and design 
 

Education/Experience


•    Bachelor’s degree required. Marketing or Communications degree preferred.
•    10+ years of marketing or communications experience required. B2B experience preferred. 
•    5+ years of managing a high-performing, cross-functional team (agency/in-house) preferred 
•    Strategy development or consulting background desirable
