Responsibilities

 


As the Maintenance Excellence Manager in Eastman’s Centralized Maintenance & Services Division (CM&S), you’ll be responsible for leading a team of 2nd-level supervisors and professionals who are committed to safely and reliably supporting assets across Eastman’s Tennessee Operations (TNO) manufacturing site,  plus managing excellence for contractor safety, risk and performance accountability.  You will use your advanced leadership abilities to drive safety, productivity, reliability, team development and quality.  Through collaboration with cross-functional teams and other organizations, you will prioritize team workload and drive continuous improvement.  You will manage the interface between departments and boundary organizations including, but not limited to, Operations, Maintenance, Procurement, Capital, Engineering, administrative areas and support services.  

As a leader, you will coach your team members in leadership and behavioral competencies to deliver high-impact results.  You will lead intentionally and continually build and improve organizational health to maximize employee engagement.  You’ll serve as a member of the Eastman Management team and be an active member of the CM&S Divisional Leadership Team.
 
Responsibilities:
•    Promote and develop a Zero Incident Mindset work environment
•    Deliver sustainable improvement in key result areas:
•    Reliability (Production loss, maintenance cost)
•    Contractor Performance Excellence
•    Maintenance Master data
•    Rotating Equipment performance and reliability
•    Provide strategic and forward-looking insights to TNO site and CM&S division for resource and cost planning
•    Collaborate with Global Centers of Excellence and other Eastman sites to develop, improve and implement M&R and contractor interface best practices and standard tools
•    Ensure compliance with regulations and Company policy
•    Lead the organization through a step change improvement in contractor performance-centric relational interface. Primary focus will be transactional performance of Occasional Use Contractors with high or medium risk assessment.
•    Lead contractor management through improved contractor safety discipline and performance with cultural alignment to Eastman strategy
•    Lead organization through value-centric investments in ongoing contractor performance routines while choosing lower-priority work that can be slowed or stopped
•    Ensure strong alignment with GoE Contractor Governance initiatives
•    Build on standardization efforts across the enterprise (especially with GoE and Texas Eastman) on risk and safety procedure and approach
•    Ensure ideal structure exists to support organizational objectives while meeting direct spend targets
•    Develop and maintain strong relationship with Indirect Procurement and Capital program leadership for Contractor and Reliability services
•    Lead, coach, mentor and develop teams 
•    Focus on employee development, performance and satisfaction
•    Establish priorities and objectives with input from boundary organizations and hold accountable to results.
•    Responsible for the culture and organizational health of organization
•    Develop strategy and ensure accountability for delivering departmental goals

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Engineering required
•    10+ years’ experience in maintenance and/or engineering required
•    Formal management experience required, preferably 2+ years leading second-level supervisors or above
•    Understanding of safe work practices; excellent safety history
•    Leadership skills, including safety awareness of staff, budget control, scheduling, staff development, goal setting, prioritization and performance evaluations
•    General understanding of Engineering Standards and Specifications
•    Knowledge of maintenance work practices like planning and scheduling, turnarounds, reliability, lubrication and workorder handling
•    Strong technical and problem-solving skills for mechanical design, failure analysis and maintenance best practices
•    Good communication skills at all levels of the organization
•    Good motivational skills: ability to influence and manage change and work well with boundary organizations
•    Ability to manage multiple projects with varied priorities and drive them to closure
•    Familiarity with development and adjustment of standard operating procedures within a manufacturing environment

 

Preferred Qualifications:
•    2+ years of experience establishing and managing execution forces contracts
•    Experience leading a Reliability Engineering team
•    Organizational leadership experience in establishing performance-based contracts that leverage boundary management experience with Procurement, Engineering Maintenance and some Capital
•    Familiarity with mechanical integrity and asset integrity program management
•    SAP proficiency
•    Situational expertise with administering coaching in all directions
•    Depth of knowledge in maintenance and manufacturing work processes
•    Experience facilitating and resolving complex human resources issues
•    Capital project experience including generation of scope and estimate; design of items like plant layout and piping; equipment design and procurement; and construction
•    Familiarity with change management concepts
•    Ownership and successful completion of complex and/or large-scale projects
