Responsibilities
The Manager, Global Construction Management provides leadership for the global team of Construction Managers executing capital projects and is responsible for maximizing the value of total portfolio by safely executing projects within budget, on schedule and ensuring that the required operability is achieved. Interaction with operations, technology, business, and other corporate support organizations as well as senior leadership is a key component of the job requirements.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of a team of Construction Managers responsible for capital project execution at Eastman's Kingsport, Longview, and Columbia sites (TNO, TXO, SCO) as well as having direct oversight responsibility for outcomes of large capital projects globally
- Ensure a Zero Incident Mindset and principles are being demonstrated across all projects
- Oversee execution of the portfolio of projects in accordance with established schedules, budget and project objectives
- Development of execution and contract strategies that optimize both risk profile and cost and schedule outcomes
- Prepare, review and oversee Eastman contractor agreements including the Contractor Management and Performance Based Contracts for CUC’s at TNO and TXO.
- Communicate upcoming work projections to project teams and stakeholders
- Promote use of Eastman Capital Process and implement the appropriate WWE&C Capital Processes
- Lead Capital Efficiency construction MVP efforts including all Constructability Reviews for projects
- Ensure that best-value practices are used to manage project scopes and changes
- Oversee and provide input into development and maintenance of key project plans and associated documents especially as it relates to estimates, schedules and constructability plans
- Monitor overall project performance and intervene when necessary
- Ensure appropriate resource availability for project schedules and execution strategies
- Participate in external benchmarking activities for capital projects
- Serve on and lead teams associated with work process improvement and project-related issues
- Effectively communicate and take a leadership role in preparing and presenting complex project proposals and reports to senior level leadership
- Serve as a member of Capital Execution Leadership Team along with Engineering, Project Controls, Capital Planning and the Project Management Office
Qualifications
- 10+ years of Construction Management experience required
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field preferred, but not required
- Experience in construction management and project development for both green field and brown field construction projects
- Extreme bias to aggressively mitigate risk, can balance reactive and proactive execution.
- Leverages teamwork and networking; able to influence without authority
- Candidate must have outstanding communication skills and demonstrated team leadership skills
- Must demonstrate a commitment to safety and be dedicated to delivering safe capital projects
- Must be willing to travel
